Pregnancy and Chiropractic Care

Picture
Pregnancy is extreamly hard on the lower back as well as the shoulders and neck.  When you examine the spine of a pregnant woman from the side, it is easy to see why she is in pain. Her shoulders are rounded forward due to increased development of the breast tissue which places tremendous pressure on the neck and shoulders. The extra weight of a growing child places the lower back in a very strenuous position.

Many hormonal changes happen during the nine months of pregnancy that relax the ligaments stabelizing the lower back and pelvis. The muscles of the lower back become short and tight as the pelvis rotates down in front.  This causes an increase in pressure on the pain sensitive joints of the lower back, producing lower back pain.

Chiropractic care can help make this special time in a woman's life as enjoyable as it was ment to be.
